What is .htaccess?

One thing that makes iPowerWeb so unique is that we always put our customers first. Since the first day we started providing web hosting services we always made our customers a priority and continue to do so. If you ever have a question all you have to do is pick up your phone and call 888-511-HOST. We never close and are available 24 hours each day, 7 days a week.
On a daily basis we get customers asking us what .htaccess is.
.htaccess is an ASCII text file. If you have visited our web hosting dictionary, you are probably aware that ASCII stands for American Standard Code for Information Interchange. The file has no name, just an extension. The extension is .htaccess. This file must be uploaded to your folder in ASCII mode (not binary). A user can place commands one line at a time that will change the behavior of the site. A .htaccess file allows you to password protect folders, change the default document, redirect users, etc.
If you are looking to receive more information about your web hosting and what is available with your current plan, please contact us.
