Do We Provide Dedicated IP Addresses?

If you are interested in search engine marketing or are beginning to learn SEO (Search Engine Optimization) you may come across a belief that dedicated ip addresses for your websites help you rank higher on search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. In simple terms this has belief has proven to be a myth, particularly with regards to Google. In most cases Google will not look down upon you if your site is hosted on a shared hosting server rather than a dedicated server. A dedicated IP is an IP that does not change regularly, that is why it is known as a dedicated IP. All iPowerWeb servers have shared dedicated IP's, meaning that the server itself has a dedicated IP, but because your web hosting account is on a shared hosting server your IP is shared with other users on the same server. The majority of websites on the Internet are located on shared web servers with shared IP addresses therefore it would be quite ridiculous if a search engine like Google, Yahoo, or MSN were to look down upon shared IP addresses. If for some reason you would still like to receive a dedicated IP address, we recommend you signup for our dedicated web hosting solutions. If you wish to stay with the same web hosting plan that you have at the moment you may do so and still receive a dedicated IP address. In order to do this you must setup a dedicated SSL certificate, which will enable you to have your very own dedicated IP address. But please remember that if you are doing this solely for search engine purposes, it may be wisest to hold off of this at the moment. Many engineers at the top search engines regard the belief of higher search engine rankings due to a dedicated IP address as a myth.
