What is Port 25?

We currently host over 700,000 web sites and have customers from all over the world. iPowerWeb was one of the first web hosting providers to offer free 24/7 toll free telephone support.
Naturally we get many customers calling us on a daily basis wanting to know more about their hosting account and how to make their web site the best it could possibly be. This means that if you ever have a question do not hesitate when contacting us, just pick up the phone and dial 888-511-4678.
A common question that comes into our support center is "What is Port 25?"
Port 25 is the port used by the SMTP service for your email. When sending an email out, PORT 25 is used to send out the email to your intended recipient. Although we recommend that you note that some internet service providers block third party mail servers from functioning. Their reason is that they want to prevent you from using these servers to send SPAM (junk mail). In this case, you have two options. You can either contact the internet service provider (ISP) and have them unblock your port 25, or you can use your ISP's SMTP server instead of your domains'. When you send email, it still appears as if it is coming from your domain and it makes no difference.
